How To Celebrate National HVAC Tech Day

Tuesday, June 16th, 2020

June 22nd is National HVAC Tech Day (created by ARS/Rescue Rooter)! This is a day to celebrate heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration professionals. Modern HVAC techs have kept homes and businesses in the United States comfortable since the early 1900s. Technological advances at the time included the residential air conditioner and upgrades to thermostats and blower motors. These gave rise to the systems that keep us cool and warm in every season.

Why HVAC techs should be celebrated

These professionals are highly skilled and spend years training in the field and in classes. They keep our homes and businesses cool and warm, day and night. Many of us take the luxury of comfort when it comes to indoor temperatures for granted: that is until the heating or air conditioning breaks down. Here are some things that HVAC techs do every day to keep us comfortable.

  1. They deal with extreme temps: Going without air conditioning for a few hours can seem overwhelming. But, HVAC techs have to deal with worse temperatures. Attics can reach dangerously high temps on hot days and techs may visit many of them every day.
  2. They handle extreme weather: HVAC techs have to deal with extreme weather too. For example, when your heater goes out in the middle of a bad winter, you will likely call an HVAC company. The tech will come out to help you, even if it is snowing. They often even brave dangerous roads to make sure your heating needs are met.
  3. They go places you won’t: Attics and crawl spaces are known for being dirty and uncomfortable. They can be scorching hot or freezing, full of spider webs and dust, and covered in creepy crawlies. Even if they are nervous, they still go in to get your HVAC system up and running.
  4. They can help you save money: These professionals can help you save money by looking at your current system and suggesting upgrades. Doing this can also help make your system more eco-friendly.

What you can do to celebrate your HVAC technicians

If you’re feeling like thanking your techs for everything they do, start with using the hashtag #NationalHVACTechDay on your social media accounts. You can share a recent experience with how they have helped you and leave a review on their company’s social media too. Consider getting them a card as well, which you can give them in person or send it to their company. HVAC techs appreciate hearing that they have helped someone!
